Bringing up linux on a bare board


Hi all
I am trying to bring up linux on (an arm based) bare board.what are the minimal base porting steps i should perform to bring up linux on the board?what are the board specific information should linux know?

Since you don't say anything about the 'board', what version/distro of Linux, architecture, etc., how can anyone give you any help? We have no idea what you're trying to do, with what...

Bringing up linux on OMAP board

Hi
Pardon me for not being specific.I am a newbie to linux.I am working on an arm based OMAP3430 evaluation board.I am trying to bring up the linux 2.6.29 kernel onto my OMAP board.The arch/arm/ directory contains the board specific details pertaining to OMAP3430 board,say timer.c setup.c irq.c files etc...So can you tell me what does these architecture dependent files tell the linux kernel?what are the board specific info does linux needs to know?
