boting questions

Hi
I had a couple of clarifications
In the LILO what is the meaning of this particualr stmt
boot=/dev/hda
root=/dev/hda6
image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.18-3
other=/dev/hda1
label="NT"
Secondly where can i find System Monitor(i wish to view the processes running) in KDE.
Thank you
Ajay

boot=/dev/hda - where LILO is installed - ie MBR

root=/dev/hda6 - The device name of the root partition

image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.18-3 - the kernel image and where its located - ie /boot

other=/dev/hda1 - the device name of the partition that NT is on

label="NT" - NT label name as it should appear in the LILO boot menu.

For the processes: open a shell

su
root password

top

or

ps -aux | less

Hi
Thank you very much for your reply.
Just a small question.
other=/dev/hda1 - the device name of the partition that NT is on
What do u mean by device name.I mean it is on the hard disk only.
root=/dev/hda6 - The device name of the root partition
What is this root partition.
Sorry for the trouble.
Ajay

The device name /dev/hda1 is just a standard way of describing the first partition of an IDE drive on the Primary master channel - just think of it as a standard name that Linux uses to describe the partition.

The Root partition is just the main partition were the OS is installed on.
