Booting to GUI

How do I control whether or not my system boots to the command line interface or the GUI? Currently using Slackware 9.1.

edit the file /etc/inittab. you should see something like this:

Code:
# Default runlevel. (Do not set to 0 or 6)
id:3:initdefault:
to boot to gui, change the "3" to "4"
