Booting thing?

Hello, I booted up Suse 9.2 today to get the following message:

'Loading Linux............................................. .....
BIOS data check successful.
You passed an undefined mode number.
Press <RETURN> to see video modes available, <SPACE> to continue or wait 30 secs.'

At this point, I hit the Enter key, and it gives me:

'Video Adapter: VESA VGA
Mode:
0 0F00 80X25
1 0F01 80X50
2 0F02 80X43
3 0F03 80X28
4 0F05 80X30
5 0F06 80X34
6 0F07 80X60
Enter mode number or 'scan''

The lovely green boot loading screen and text i usually get has been replaced by this. How do I get it back?

Cheers.

This may just be a silly question - but you havn't by any chance left the CD in the drive have you?

It's just that I get the exact same message when I am booting my Knoppix live distro CD.

Just a thought. I'll crawl back under my rock now...

Best regards

Mark

Me to:) think it's just having difficulty finding the right monitor settings. or video settings try online update and see if it finds a new driver patch It finds it for me but I can't get it to install.

Unless some of the brainy guys and girls on here can give you a fix then I would suggest the old saying if it works don't fix i.e. if it is not affecting the viewing then just cancel.

I'll probably get shouted at now for that :p :p :p :p :p

BTW my graphics card is a Radion 9200se Nvida

Usually you get that message when trying to use framebuffering and the video chipset doesn't support it. If you have vga=788 or some such in lilo.conf or menu.lst you can change it to vga=normal. Just remember to run "lilo -v" afterwards if you change lilo.conf.

excellent! problem solved. Edited the menu.lst config ;)

Thanks so much, your help is much appreciated.
