booting then to cmd line..... Why not to GUI??

Hello, I have Mandrake 9.1. When I boot it up, it goes through the boot screen and loader. then It quickly goes to command line. How can I get to the GUI desktop??? I press ctrl+Alt+F7 and it does nothing. Can you please help me...:confused: :confused: :

check the file /etc/inittab and see if the line says ::
id:3:initdefault: and if it does, change that 3 to a 5..
3 = text
5 = gui
