Booting recovery partition from a Live CD
Hello,
I'm trying to boot the recovery partition (/dev/sda1) on a laptop who's been infected by a mbr virus which wiped out the original bootloader from the manufacturer (Toshiba). This means that when I boot up the system I cannot press the '0' key to start up the recovery.
I was wondering if there's some Live CD that let me choose which HD partition to boot, or maybe some GRUB magic (which I never used) that could help.
I'm asking because I cannot experiment, since said laptop is not mine and I don't want to risk the recovery data IE destrotying the partition table.
The partition table is as follows:
/dev/sda1 -> recovery partition (Hidden NTFS WinRE)
/dev/sda2 -> normal OS partition (NTFS)
/dev/sda3 -> data partition (NTFS)
SO I just need to:
- boot from a Live CD
- tell the system "boot /dev/sda1"
Thank you.
Fabio.
