booting error in KNOPPIX 6.0
I have downloaded the KNOPPIX_V6.0-ADRIANE_V1.1CD-2009-01-27-EN and burned to a cd.
But whenever I try to boot from it...an error occurs : "Konnte /mnt-system/KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX nicht mounten. Starte debugging shell... can't access tty; job control turned off..." Any solutions??? Plz help!!! ....thanks in advance. |
Two thoughts:
1) Did you verify the MD5SUM checksum of the image downloaded, AND of the burned disc? Maybe it is corrupt. 2) Are there selectable options available (a menu) at startup of the disc, that might provide a variety of different boot environments, one of which might address the issue? |
Well,
Firstly, No there are no options available during the booting phase... no menu, nothing! And Secondly, I was able to open the MD5SUM of the Image with notepad.....but the when I tried with the one on the disk, my system completely hanged.... Is that what you meant by verification of the MD5SUM checksum?? |
If you're using Windows, get md5sum from here:
http://www.md5summer.org/about.html |
I did the MD5SUM verification of both(image and cd), here are the results:
For Image.... boot\isolinux\boot.msg OK boot\isolinux\f2 OK boot\isolinux\f3 OK boot\isolinux\german.kbd OK boot\isolinux\isolinux.bin OK boot\isolinux\isolinux.cfg OK boot\isolinux\linux OK boot\isolinux\logo.16 OK boot\isolinux\minirt.gz OK KNOPPIX\KNOPPIX OK KNOPPIX\LICENSE.txt OK KNOPPIX\modules\aufs.ko OK KNOPPIX\modules\cloop.ko OK KNOPPIX\README_Security.txt OK KNOPPIX\SOURCES.txt OK For the cd... KNOPPIX\KNOPPIX ERROR: Checksum did not match. KNOPPIX\modules\aufs.ko ERROR: Checksum did not match. KNOPPIX\modules\cloop.ko ERROR: Checksum did not match. KNOPPIX\README_Security.txt ERROR: Checksum did not match. boot\isolinux\isolinux.bin OK boot\isolinux\isolinux.cfg OK boot\isolinux\linux OK boot\isolinux\logo.16 OK boot\isolinux\minirt.gz OK boot\isolinux\boot.msg OK KNOPPIX\LICENSE.txt OK boot\isolinux\f2 OK boot\isolinux\f3 OK boot\isolinux\german.kbd OK KNOPPIX\SOURCES.txt OK .....So whats the verdict??? |
....well burning a new cd solved the problem.....
.....thanks for the 'MD5 checksum' tip :) :) :) |
