Dear all,

I have compiled a new kernel, entered the same in grub.conf also.
While i am rebooting and chose the new kernel to boot i gets the below error without booting in.

Booting 'Red Hat Linux (2.4.20-8yasin)'
root (hd0,0)
File system type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
Kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.20-8yasin ro root=LABEL=/
Error 15 : File not found
press any key to continue...

Please check the attachments too.

I have googled a lot and tried, but still i cannot resolve my issue.

Really?? So why don't you tell us which of the results you tried, and what the results were? Just saying "I cannot resolve my issue", tells us nothing about what you've done/tried. And putting "linux compiled new kernel error 15 file not found" into Google, pulls up 779,000 results, with lots of solutions. Some of them are even on this very site.

You don't say what version/distro you're using, if you built the correct initrd file, or what you're trying to accomplish, so it's hard to give any better answers. Also, 2.4 is a VERY old kernel...this isn't by chance your futile attempt to get Red Hat 9 working on new hardware, is it?

EDIT: Yes, it apparently is, since Red Hat 9 used (amazingly), kernel 2.4.20, just as you posted here. You need to use a current, supported version of Linux, and quit trying to use an 11 year old operating system on new hardware.
