Wow, From what I can tell, you have a bad root disk. It sees the image for the root system, but it can not uncompress it. This may be due to a bad disk or a bad copy, or a bad sorce for creation of the disk. Good Luck auric

yea, bad rootdisk. that used to happen to me all the
time, 10 years ago. |
hi..
i dont know if the disk or the root file is damaged. actually i already use 5 different diskette and different root file. the bootdisk i alright but the root disk have a problem. now..i don't know what to do. i already have a linux sys. and i want to install again without boot from cdrom or bootdisk. just boot from existing my slackware o.s. how can i install linux again into the same hard disk? when i mount cdrom..how can i run setup? where is the setup file in cdrom? tq.. |
if you could look at the kernel boot line,
initrd= something root= something it runs those, and they are probably in loopback filesystems. you would have to look in those. i guess. i bet there is a slackware install faq somewhere that has different ways to install like that. |
The install program is a tricky thing to find. I do know that it is two parts. One part is the boot system. Net, disk, cdrom, etc.... then the second part is the part that installs the system. I would suspect that it cana be located if you were to run a normal install and then watch what commands it executes. via tty1 or 2. Let me know if you do find it. Thanxs auric
