What exactly is bootcd? like, bootcd-i386.

bootcd is a minimal sized disk so as to just boot your system to start a linux installation. they are meant for network installation i.e. if you have your linux cds stored over the network.

i386--> architecture of your pc, other examples are x86_64 for 64 bit, ppc...
