Bootable Hard drive image

i need to get a whole image of the linux machine including all partitions. In case the running machine fails i must be able to restore this image to a HDD and boot as the original.

Please direct me the steps or any article that shows how to do this.

thanks in advance.

Hello

I've used clonezilla and fsarchiver many times for creating system images or archives and they've both worked flawlessly each time I've restored systems with them. You can find instructions for using them on their respective websites.

You might wish to start with clonezilla or redobackup. They may work.

There may be a lot of issues that you need to consider also. Many people use a command called dd. A sort of dangerous command but it copies bit by bit where some programs copy file by file. In either case you may have to edit some things before or after you clone. Grub and fstab may all be wrong on the clone.
