Question boot up connfirmation prompts

Hi

There's some error messages during my boot up sequence that I'd like to either pause or have the system ask me to confirm each thing.

Can anyone tell me if there's a way to tell linux to ask you to confirm each step of the boot process? - like in windows with "safe mode with step-by-step confirmation?

thanks...
