I have accepted this failure in the past, I had windows, no problem. Now I am determined to get rid of Windows. This identical circumstance has occured on at least five different computers and with different versions of Linux. (Mandrake, Redhat Debian etc.)

No problems are experienced during the loading of Linux, (Linux only not colocated with Windows) however, when I proceed to boot-up the computer fails after processing the interupt commands below:

" ide0 at 0x1f0 - 0x1f7, 0x3f6 on irq 14
ide1 at 0x170 - 0x177, 0x376 on irq 15
__"

At this point I am left with a hung computer and no information to process. I would appreciate any help that I can get. I can't begin to learn Linux until I can boot one of the Linux versions.

So what kind of hardware do you have and don't leave anything to the imagination.
