Boot problems with WinXP and Mandrake 9.1

I have been running WinXP over a year now with no problems. I decided about two weeks ago to try Linux so I installed Mandrake 9.1. Everything was find until about a week ago. Now I can't get XP to boot, the XP Home Edition screen comes up but that is far as it gets. XP keeps trying to boot over and over again until I let Linux boot. A screen comes up saying I have a registry error. I am having no problem with Linux. Is this a XP or Linux problem. I have 40 GB hd, I think I allowed 4 GB for Linux.

Please help

Sounds like a windows problem sorry but.......

Windows XP Home version......is really a bad version.......If you haven't updated that version in a long time it could have gotten corrupt.....

Had problems with Home version of Windows XP this version is to touchy.....I informed him to get a copy of Windows XP Pro.....

Try pressing F8 or F10 can't remember which one will get you to a screen to allow safe mode....But, select safe mode and see if this will get you in....Check for errors in System hardware configuration........

later good luck.....

I've tried all that good stuff, nothing has helped so far. I was just seeing if anybody had anything different to offer.

Well I use XP Pro and I had a similar problem. I ended up putting in the XP disc and going into the repair section. Once you log in with your windows name and password then it bring up a DOS prompt and you can type FIXMBR to repair the master boot record. There was also another command relating to the boot procedures, but i cant remember what it is, so just type HELP when you get to the prompt. Hopefully you can get your MBR repaired and get into windows.
