Boot Problems with asus a7n266
I changed my board from an asus a7a266 to an asus a7n266
but now when i install redhat 7.2 ,the install goes perfect. When i try and boot it ,it displays something about, something not fitting in memory. Ive read a few postings and none of them have the exact same symptons as mine. I dont know if a change of kernel will do the trick. Please any assistance would be appreciated. |
Even if u try rh8.0,it won't run on your system. You can run rh9.0 successfully on your system without any problem.Try getting rh9.o.This b'coz i too have the Mb same as yours.......

You can install and use 7.2,7.3, and 8.0 in a A7N266 motherboard, but you have to work in the shell mode, as the XFree86 does not support the MB. If you install RH 9 , you can work in the GUI mode as well.

I have the same mobo and I'm running RH9.
Try using LILO as the boot loader. GRUB didn't seem to work for me. I got that same error, Error 28 (I think). User LILO and I think it will work fine for you. hamish |
I don't think using lilo or grub is a problem. My friend has the same MB and he uses GRUB. However, you can't use GRUB for 7.3 or 8.0 as the graphics drivers are not supported.
