Boot problem with 2.6.32-27-generic

First of all, I am super new to Linux, so I will do my best to give the necessary information to solve my problem.

I'm running Ubuntu with Linux 2.6.32-27-generic off of a flash drive on my Windows machine. This afternoon, it was not able to finish booting. Here is what I believe the relevant error messages are:

Code:

...
Killed
mount: mounting /dev on /root/dev failed: No such file or directory
mount: mounting /sys on /root/sys failed: No such file or directory
mount: mounting /proc on /root/proc failed: No such file or directory
Target filesystem doesn't have /sbin/init.
No init found. Try passing init= bootarg.

(initramfs)_

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

Flash drives have a limited number of read/write operations before failure. Using a USB stick for a system will have limited life. They are great for a short try out, install, but not for daily use.

If you have a CD or DVD drive, consider using that. If not, your best bet may be to try a re-install to the USB stick. If that works, great. If not, buy a new stick. Consider doing a HD install before too long.
