Unhappy Boot problem

Hello.

This is the first time I try Linux. I have installed mandrake 8.1 in an AMD k6-2, lilo dual boot with win98. The installation doesn`t report any troubles and finished ok.
But when I boot the computer only get this message:

<0> Kernel Panic: Attempted to kill init! e2 03 23 04 95 c0 f6 26 ] [<c0105000>]

Somebody could help me please??

Boot problem

I got that same message in the past when I installed LINUX on my HPT370 or other drive controller. Try installing LINUX on the Primary controller also know as the motherboard's IDE controller.

If you have a ZIP drive, turn it off 'Auto' in the motherboard. Let LINUX and Windows detect it.

Partition programs don't like zip drives. Also Iomega recommends you disable auto detect in the BIOS where the zip drive is connected.

I could be wrong. This is my second week on using LINUX.

Same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Try booting with the floppy, then type linux 3 in the command prompt. Then type Xconfigurator (make sure everything is configured correctly,) then try mouseconfigurator (make sure you don't have a USB mouse configured as a ps2 or vice versa.) That's how I fixed mine. But since i'm a Linux noob too, I might be wrong
