find / -name lilo.conf
or
find / -name grub.conf
why not use locate? issuing a find command starting at root can take a while, especially on a slower machine, whereas locate is basically instantaneous once you create the updatedb. this is especially useful if he had to do more searching than just that one. i almost always use locate over find when doing a simple search as this. you don't have to do the updatedb each time, just every once in a while (when you have added new content to your fs), though it is a good suggestion for his specific case. just my $0.02.

yea, i know, but most of the time, i run linux on pentium 4 or athlon xp computers that dont take long at all to run, therefore i dont have this problem
