boot off of cd

Suse 9.0 installed incorrectly and I would like to do it again. However, it won't boot off of the cd.

The bios is correctly to have the cdrom as the first source. I can get in and mount the cd and see everything on it.

Is there something I am missing where I have to automount the cdrom at bootup or something?

~Thanks

I never had problems booting distros from CDs on an IBM laptop, but on my new desktop, I cannot boot Fedora Core 1 or SUSE Eval from the CD. I did find that the slack and mandrake cds were ok though.

I worked around the Fedora Core 1 problem, by booting up with Slack to the first prompt. Then removed the slack cd, inserted the Fedora cd and directed the boot to something like /iso/boot.img (cannot remember). Then I installed Fedora!

Didn't try this with the SUSE eval yet though.

Maybe try loading another distro, then trying again SUSE.

hmmm, does the cd have loadlin on it? i can't say exactly aobut suse, but i'd go to http://www.bootdisk com and fetch an msdos 6.22 boot disk, and see if there aren't any dos utilities that can't be used to start the installation process, i did this on a machine that didn't supprort booting from the cd
