Do you mean that you want to eliminate the delay or wait time between when GRUB starts and when it calls the OS?

And do you really want to boot into single-user mode? That's really for system rescue, not for day-to-day computer operations.

Could you please let us know what exactly you are trying to do? Information you have provided is not at all clear. It will be good if you provide us the details on what is the situation and what you are trying to do.

i think you want to edit /etc/default/grub, e.g. with
Code:
sudo nano /etc/default/grub
and make sure the line starting with
Code:
GRUB_TIMEOUT=...
reads
Code:
GRUB_TIMEOUT=0
after that you must run
Code:
sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
this will immediately start booting the default entry.
i do not recommend it (maybe better to set the timeout to at least 1).

it is NOT recommended to change the 3 second countdown to 0 seconds

you REALLY WILL WANT THAT 3 SECONDS!!!!!!!!!
if you change it to 0 normal everyday fixes will become harder
and if you NEED to fix a bad update - that will become harder
