Boot from NIC?

Hello all,
I've heard that you can boot into Linux via your ethernet card (mine has that option although I've never tried it). How exactly does this work? Does it just use another machine as the server and sends whatever commands you issue and the result of the command over the network? Can you get it to go into X over the network?

Thanks!,
Jon

Network-boot-Howto

You can get it to do pretty much whatever you want. Yes, you'll obviously need a server to provide the kernel, but from that point, you could mount you /bin directory on the same server, a different one, or locally as well as any other dirs. Beware of network congestion for large numbers of clients if you distribute the filesystem like that though...
