Angry boot errors in sclackware

Off late i have been getting some dma status errors when i boot into my computer in slackware 10. It happens when it checks the hdd partition information its shows

dma_status_error status =0x58

dma timed out

it happends for each partition it checks and takes a little while to boot up because of it. Please help..........

did you change anything in the bios setting before that happened ?
an look at the output for # hdparm -I /dev/hda, to see if dma is enabled.
( replace hda with the drive you want info about )
