Boot And hard disk failure on installation
Hello. I'm an amatuer user of linux and i recently
decided to switch from mandrake linux 8.2 to Redhat linux 9 Firstly is it possible to simply delete the partitions i was using for mandrke and re-use them for redhat? .Secondly My source downloaded it and wrote it and installed to his machine. I got the same cd's but cd1 doesn't boot so i made a copy on my hard disk, made a book disk but even then, given the harddisk option of were and which partition and directory the installation is on I can't locate the *.img files it asks for (during Installation) though when i browse the CD (in windows) i can see them. Can you please give me step by step routine to follow if the cd isn't bootable? I'm using a DELL Inspiron 8100 1.13mhz,256mb RAM and 30GB.I have 7GB reserved for linux. 4 NTFS partitions and 1 FAT32 partition. I copied the all the linux cds to an NTFS partition should i change the location to the FAT32 partition? Please send as detailed as possible Thank You  |

Yes, it's ossible to remove your current partitions and use the space for new installation. You can do it from the installer. For hard driver installation you should follow https://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/...nstall-hd.html It says that NTFS is not suppoered for this type of installation (ext2, ext3 and fat are). |
