Block a site

Hi,

Good day! I have this problem with a user that is consistently viewing porn sites. Unfortunately he has the privilege to access all site because he's IP is in the exception ip list of dansguardian. (By the way he is a Manager.) I just want to block the porn site to all those who is in the exceptioniplist.

How will i do that?

Thank you and have a great day!

If his IP is exception site list, it will be an exception always. Even if the site is blocked for others. If you are using DansGuardian with Squid, then you can block the site in squid and not put his IP as exception there. You can have a better granular control in squid than Dans. Else you can create multiple access control lists in dans. But this could put your resources under some pressure.

So you mean that I can't block certain sites if the IP is in the exceptioniplist?

Right. Not with your default settings. Do you see other configuration files than dansguardian.conf like dansguardianf1.conf and similar? Use them to customize your configuration. But mind that do not use more than 10 config files. For every custom file, dansguardian spawns a new process and will eat your resources.

How about putting a CCTV camera in his cabin?

@Anisha- I wish I can do that.lol
@linuxlover.chaitanya- Well there is a dansguardianf1.conf but as you've said that there is no way in my current config.
Thanks anyway, I appreciate it.

Well if I could, I would have pointed you to a very helpful site for dansguardian configuration. It is not at hand. But you can surely do what you want if you keep your eyes and ears open. Look more into it and you will know how to do that. Will find the link and give when I can.

This is what you need. The filter groups configuration for your needs. But are not you using Dans with squid?

I haven't used Dansguardian so i'm not sure I can help with that but couldn't you just put a modified hosts file on his PC? Seems like a simple, and probably naive, answer I know.
