blank or stopped screen after AMD64 Ubuntu install
Hey all. I recently installed Ubuntu 64 bit over my Ubuntu 32-bit partition. It's because my laptop has AMD64 structure, and I thought I should take advantage of it.
So, when I boot up in Ubuntu after a successful install and try to loh in, all I see is a blank screen and a white pointer mouse.
I have tried every solution from every Google result I got for the problem. Removed Gnome and replaced it Kubuntu, removed compiz, reconfigured xorg.config....nothing works. It's an Nvidia machine, as well.
I've posted in Ubuntu forums and Linux forums, but no one has answered yet. truly, I'm at the end of my rope. Should I just give up and put the underwhelming (for my computer) 32 bit Ubuntu back on? is it something to do with the Nvidia drivers (which doesn't make much sense considering the LiveCD installation didn't do that)?
Please, PLEASE let someone answer me. Ugh. Thanks to whomever helps.
