Thanks Cliff, yes I beleive I am going to need to (attempt to) update the BIOS. This worthless 'setup utility' is the only thing I can manage to get, I've tried using all my different 'F' keys & also ESC after power on ...

Wonder if a BIOS update will help (as it used to work).

Did you go through all the menus that you have? It might be under advanced or ...

Another thought:
Sometimes a distro offers the option to create a bootable floppy to startof with. It might be an option to bypass your problem.
Read up on it in the documentation of the distro (I did use it with RH7/8 on older PCs that could not boot from CD)
