Binary files in Linux Help!!

Hello there
i desperately don't understand about creating binaries files:
i was using ettercap tool :from the website description:
"Binaries are not officially provided or supported - you have to compile it yourself "
also MUST have this librarY:
libpcap >= 0.8.1
libnet >= 1.1.2.1
libpthread
zlib
where can i found all this lib?if different version use,(i using fedora12)
will ther version still the same?

back to main question.wat binaries it mean I need to compile?
before i can't run ./configure command too.
i already solve it with yum install gcc.
gcc means binaries?

thankSSSS!!

Try

rpm -qa|grep -i <lib name here>

Also try

yum whatprovides <libname>

http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/docs/DOC-2531

gcc is the compiler; takes C src and compiles+links it to produce binary executables.
