Big problem probably not fixable

My problem is this I used winlinux2000 quite a few years ago and recently found a copy of the install program in my room now in 2003 and I wanted to install it again and work with it, but my problem is now I have a different computer the sound, keyboard, mouse is all through USB ports and the version of winlinux I have doesn't seem to support them I looked around and I guess I can compile a newer kernel into the winlinux2000 and it should have support to find my keyboard and mouse, my major dilemma is that I can't get into the command window and type anything. this is my last effort if I can't do it then I will just delete it and forget it, if anyone can think of anything I can do to get the newer kernel updated in winlinux I'd sure like to know.

p.s. please refrain from flaming me or telling me to download newer versions I run on dialup and a 36.6 modem so theres no way I can download a distro 500+ megs.

thanks.

I'm not going to flame you. But let me give you and anyone else on dialup a little helpful advice. Trying to download any modern linux distro with dialup is an excersize in both frustration and futility. There are inexpensive alternatives available. Try here:

You can get the cds for most current distros for under $10, delivery included.

By the way, it's all perfectly legal. There are many other sites just like it.

If you have a mall, or a shopping center of similar size near you, you can usually find boxed versions of some distros. Mandrake and maybe RedHat.

My first Linux distribution was an old version of Mandrake I bought at Wal-Mart.

You don't need a credit card at edmonds. They accept mail order payments although it will delay things since they won't ship til the check or money order clears. Payments must be made in US dollars.

Where are you? There's lots of Linux Users Groups,
many of which run installfests, etc. e.g.
NYLXS (nylxs.com) The ppl there will have the CDS.
Of course you have to lug your stuff to them.
