help!

im am very biglinux newb i instaled redhat on my old compaq getting it setup for my dad as a reg desktop computer...



i have no idea of how to instal programs i know you have to do some commands but were and how do you do this?

im trying to install XINE for my dad so he can watch videos

i downloaded all the rpms and i read the install it says to typ some kinda commands

but what makes me mad is no were dose it say how to do this for newbs

and i bet its one reason linux is so unpopuler it is simply overwlming for newbs!!!!


If i cant iger this stuff out i geuss i might have to go back to god alfol 98se with all the compaq crap installed

The command is:

rpm -ivh <packagename>

replacing <packagename> with the name of the package you want to install.
