Big mess


Im major noob and i have a big problem. I was about to install mandrake 9.2 and the install frooze up before it even started installing. I turned off computer and now cd is stuck in drive. i got in to bios in hope to log in to windows and did but wiundows would not fully boot up. So only way i can access the cd rom is by msdos. I do not wish to move any futher with out help. I was thinking about format but i do not see how or why it would release that cd. so pleaseif anyone know how to unmount this drive using msdos let me know.

Boot your computer and eject the CD right as the system is powering on. You should be able to release the CD between the power and and the OS load (i.e. during the POST).

by chance do you have an LG cdrom?

old computer with no name cd rom. unable to identify from looking at it inside case. I unhooked cd rom and booted in to windows with out problems.

Yes it is a LG. I was thinking it is dead but i tried a different CDrom in its place. it was dead too

there should be a small hole on the front of the CDROM
this an emergency eject
unbend a paperclip and put it in there.. push.. the tray will pop open just enough for you to get your fingers behind the front and pull it out
