Thumbs up Better than crack

(The plays on words in the subject line are intended)

I had thought that computer science would be as boring as the code writing I did when I was 12... I was so so wrong.

I have never tried cocaine specifically but the reference materials one of the forum members gave me have my eyes nailed to the screen. etech3 I could kiss you.

I have not been this intellectually engaged in something so intensely in a very long time.

Thanks etech3. Z/Z

I will add that we don't encourage the use of crack or any other recreational substances to anyone looking for an advice in this forums.

Also contact between members, such as 'kissing' is really personal matters.

Good luck to you

Your form needs work. Your attack was sloppy. Against hostile adversaries it is best to use their strenghts against them. Assuming my statement was hostile or insulting it would be prudent to take the offensive portion of the statement and use it against me BUT not leave yourself open in the process. Also it is best to take into account the environment and use that to your advantage.

Eg: Suppose you believed my statement "etech3 I could kiss you" had sexual undertones ( not my intent but I can see how others could think that ) then first you say "Be aware this forum does not tolerate sexual harassment" thus using the netiquette for this environment (Linux technical forum) to your advantage and by not making a reference to yourself or others you do not appear to be attacking for personal reasons ( whether it is personal is irrelevant because neither of us is a mind reader ) . That singular statement alone is quite strong and nearly imperious to counter-attack. But supposing the poster of the offensive statement has a history of offensive statements then you could add to your attack with a statement like "if you continue such behaviour the moderators will get involved" or "The moderators often penalize members who engage in questionable discourse"... you can continue to pour it on but run the risk of over-extending yourself and making a statement that could be used against you in a subsequent counter... the more complicated the attack the higher the chance it will fail.

I like criticism or feedback regardless if it is complimentary or scathing because in either case it lets me know if there are any weaknesses I need to attend to. I also know that you can't please all of the people all of the time so I rarely take offense when people take offense with me. I do however get annoyed when opponents don't bring their A-game. I love to fight physically and mentally but I do NOT like it when others attempt to elevate themselves by diminishing others. If anyone is truly offended by any statement I make they are free to tell me but please do not lob personal "opinions" at me disguised as criticisms. Z/Z
