SUSE and Mandrake are pretty good to get you rolling. Wireless is a different beast. Good luck with it. |
Fedora Core 3 is a excellent newbie distro. It has a graphical installer and still gives you alot of power if you need it.

Suse 9.2.. good hardware support. Wireless can be made to work with almost any distro using ndiswrapper http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/ or driverloader: http://www.linuxant.com/driverloader/ (it costs $20.00 but is easier to setup)

suse 9.2 runs many wireless cards out of the box.
I am using it with a toshiba satellite a75, using an Atheros Super-G built-in. Suse detected the wlan at install time. All I had to do was type in my essid and wep. |
SimplyMepis is also pretty user friendly, and works with a lot of wifi cards out of the box.

If you've installed those already, than you should just pick one which suits you, instead of asking someone else to pick one for you. I tried Slackware and RedHat when I was younger, and neither really got me going, Just recently someone suggested Mandrake, but I foiund out that Mandrake tends to be one of the less stable distos. So I tried Debian as I had heard great things about it's stability, and after a couple of weeks getting everything going I was using Linux on an ALMOST exclusive basis, 2 months later, there is no M$ s/w here. Go with what seems best for you, not what someone else says is best.
