I still prefer multiple cheap devices over one pricey one. Each has their use case of course. But 20 pi 2's over 1 alienware, I can come up with many more use cases for 20 lesser machines than just one good one. Even though the end result is roughly the same. Data + Processing.

I have an HP G61 laptop about 6 years old. I first downloaded a .iso of Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS on a donated HP desktop pc with a bogus Windows 7 op system. A few weeks later I had some problems with Windows 7 on my laptop. I tried to download Ubuntu inside Win 7 but it spit out my disk. I booted up again and blew Windows 7 out. I have been perfectly happy with the same Ubuntu distro on both my desktop and my laptop. I go for HP with ALL my pcs, printers, etc.

I have purchased several Zareason devices--a Zatab tablet (since discontinued), the Zareason Strata laptop that I'm using right now, and a Zareason Limbo tower. I have been completely satisfied with the calibre of the hardware and the workmanship on all three of them. The laptop has without a doubt the best, solidest laptop keyboard I have ever encountered. The laptop and tower both came with Slackware installed as per my order.
Furthermore, I had an out-of-the-box warranty repair (the optical drive) on the Limbo, and Zareason stepped up to the plate like a champ and shipped me a new drive the same day I called. I anticipate that the next computer I get will also be a Zareason. |
I've always wanted to try a ZaReason, can't wait for them to come out with a ultrabook style 14" that has a decent resolution LCD, or offer an upgrade to a decent resolution LCD on their ultrabook. They look really nice, but I'm a fan of 14" thin and lights, and they only offer unusably low 1366x768 resolution. I consider that a show-stopper.

Literally the only thing I wish was different is the RAM, they should really have 16 GB as an option...I guess I'll just have to make due with 8. |
