Best Linux for new user with several requirement?
 

Hi, I'm pretty new to Linux and have some questions that I hope some of you guys (and girls) may have some answers for.

I'm wanting to setup a server on my home network that would handle several things:
1. It would run asterisk or someother similar program to connect my VoIP phone to a service such as sipphone.

2. It would run a simple web server for incoming/outgoing web pages.

3. It would run some sort of torrent application that could be accessed on the internal network by web browser from multiple locations. All torrent downloads would actually take place on this machine but could be accessed from anywhere.

Well, those things would be good starts for me, anyway. So, does anyone have an opinion on what Linux distro would be best for me given the above AND the fact I'm new to Linux? And second, recommendations for webserver app and torrent app?

Setup Configuration Ease
 

I've installed and used Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Fedora (5 and 6), and Ubuntu. Of these, I have found Ubuntu the easiest to configure. I have found most of the things that I have wanted to try with Ubuntu seem to have a viable answer out there.

Fedora 6 seems to be a great improvement over Fedora 5. I have yet to try CentOS as a Red Hat Enterprise Linux replacement.

Other than getting a web server running, I have not tried to do anything with my home network that is as elaborate as you have described. Mostly, I reach my work using pptpconfig.

Maybe Ubuntu? Just because you could then use this:
