Hi guys im new to linux and this is my first post
My friend told me that Linux is a fast Os but before deleting my old Os I like to try it with dual boot can you teach me how to do it and
I also want to ask if what is the most compatible Linux OS for hp pavilion 10 smarttouch that that will allow the touchscreen future of the unit.

Try Debian, might as well go with Testing since it will be stable in a couple of months. Me I'm using Debian Sid & Testing & they are both quite stable.
BTW Gnome seems to be built for touchpads so I'm sure touchscreen will work. Also Debian can be install in EFI mode, so you don't have to enable legacy bios if you have EFI.

You need to allocate free space on hdd, by resizing your windows partition, using window disk utility. then during install choose "Most Contiguous Free Space>>Guided Partitioning", then select the "Unallocated Space".

You might want to check out this link before proceeding. It looks like most any Linux distribution (including Debian) should work well, but there may be some manual work involved with getting things like wi-fi working.

Linux is a rock-solid OS, but it's rather different from Windows. If you're expecting a free drop in replacement for Windows, you are likely to be disappointed.
