Best linux for content cration??
 

hey what do you think whats the best linux for content creation?,
like for avid media composer, vegas pro, adobe illustrator, Photoshop,premier pro, after effects, 3ds max and so on...
all i need and i think everyone of this field needs is something VERY VERY basic so that the all the power is used for the program's no animation no fancy stuff. If it could only heave a desktop a search engine thumbnails, date/time, internet browser (Firefox), a .rar extractor a img viewer and a video player(VLC..) that would be the best OS for this.

To meet all the criteria you pose, I would suggest you first become familiar with the alternatives available in GNU/Linux to the proprietary software mentioned. Take a look here, within this site, and within the distro ArtistX and at linuxalt.com.

Once the alternatives have been explored and decided upon, it would behoove you to do a minimal install and then add them to the distro of choice. The 'buntu minimal install mini.iso is one choice on which to build your own personalized linux box.

Video editors. Blender.

You might also take a look at Slacker Media. Although oriented towards Slackware, much of the information is generic.

Note that manufacturers of most of the proprietary applications you listed, Adobe among them, choose not to support Linux, so, as sidzen points out, you will need to familiarize yourself with their *nix equivalents.

I dont know what all those programs do, but check out Ubuntu Studio - www.ubuntustudio.org

I think After Effects has no Linux equivalent, just to let you know....

however there are equivalents

i use "Gimp 2.8" and "2.9 DEVELOPMENT" (supports 32 bit and 16 bit data) for images

and i use "Blender" for almost all of my 3d work

for After effects i use Natron and blender

have a look at using SUSE-studio to build a OS or SUSE Leap

You can do media editing on almost any distro. If you're patient. If you can afford the time to do things the long way. I've been editing videos and audio on debian for years. But using pnmchange to do chroma-key isn't exactly efficient. But has otherwise existed for over a decade, probably two or three. There are better tools now. And some distros devoted to them.
