Question Best Linux eMail Client?

Hi All-

I'm curious as a fairly new convert (1 year) to Linux.
What do you all think is the best eMail client for Linux and why do you feel it is the best?

What is important to me in a client is...
  • security
  • calendaring
  • web mail support (google, yahoo)
  • contact management that easily exports to other formats (Outlook, Blackberry) if needed.

Thank you and I look forward to your responses!

Bill

The only client that works with Yahoo's free email is Zimbra.
http://www.zimbra.com/products/desktop.html
It will import contacts and calendars from the various services, but it does not truly integrate into your desktop like Evolution or Kmail will.

If your looking for an alternative open-source project to use for email, I recommend Thunderbird from the Mozilla Team. Add to this the Sunbird project for an integrated calendar and you have the beginnings of a beautiful email solution.

Thunderbird is capable of getting emails from exchange as well as web services. The formats for exports (be they email files or contacts) are protocol neutral and can be used anywhere you desire.

The security can be accomplished thru settings in the default email program or with plugins like Firefox uses. There is the capabilility to integrate with the desktop if thats your cup of tea.

One more thing about this is it looks, works and performs the same whether you are on a Windows computer or a Linux computer.

I like Evolution quite a bit. Have been using it for some years now and I like it. You can only use hotmail or yahoo with it, if you have an account to imap and pop3 support, for which you often have to pay.
