Best Linux Distro for Server......

Sir;

Good day! I am a newbie when it comes to Linux Distributions. I have already installed Redhat Enterprise Edition, Fedora Core 3, 6 and 7, Ubuntu and mandrake. I would like to ask a question when setting up a server what is the best Linux distribution when it comes to security, reliability and stability? Is it FreeBSD, Slackware, Redhat, Fedora Core, Ubuntu, and other Linux Distros.

Thanks,

rodneyaltam

Welcome to LQ!

If running a server is the main goal, then FreeBSD or OpenBSD is your best choice. This is where their strength is. Both are unix compatible Os's.

For linux any of the distros you mentioned in your post are fine as well. Ubuntu also has a server edition.

Visit the www.distrowatch.com website for more specific distros and their main function i.e server and/or desktop, firewall or other.
