the best linux distro for that particular application will be a series of debate. It will still depends on the type of hardware you use to bring out the good performance or good processing that you want. anyway, choose a distro that your familiar and comfortable with. I can't recommend any good program for that function, you can google and if available package available is only from a certain package let say RPM, then install an RPM based distro like centos,rhel or fedora. if it's a tarball file or a source file then you have plenty of distro to choose from
