Dear all,

I know there are so many Linux Distributions..

I'd like to know which one is best for development?

thanks

There's really no such thing. Just try a few and choose the one you like. Please also use the search in future, before posting.

Linux is so customisable that almost any distro is good for almost anything. As it was suggested, try a few top distros from the distrowatch.com website and you'll decide which one 'is the best':)

Have fun

Try the distro test in my sig, it has led me to my fav distro :)

There always has to be an exception to prove the axiom's truth ... There are no stupid questions.

I find Gentoo to be amazing for development purposes, just because the toolchain is set from the very moment you install it, and because all the source code is available without need to dive on the net and/or install -devel packages.

Having the system tailored to your needs also helps.

But that's just because I am lazy. Any distro can do really.

Im not trying to be a jerk, but seriously..did you even try to search on the subject before posting?

there are 315 posts with "best distro" in the subject... I cant imagine how many google has.

Seriously, if you want to start toying with linux, the first think you need to learn to do is start doing some work for yourself.
