Best Distro

Its probably been said before so hope you'll forgive me. I'm looking for a LiveCD distribution that will allow you to mount a hard disk partition and save files to that partition. I've got Ubuntu but can't seem to save to the hard disk, only to a USB key. Which LiveCD will allow me access to the hard disk to save/load data from NSFT/FAT system.

Knoppix will do what you want, it's pretty good at finding and mounting partitions. It will handle FAT no problem, NTFS is a bit iffy (writing is at least) but check their homepage maybe you can find the answer.

(my sig also has a link to a site that helps choose your distro for you)

the best liveCD solution i think is DSL. It is meant to be a liveCD unlike other distros that are edited to be put on a livecd.
