I have Compiz and Beryl at the same time installed, and I believe neither of them is setup correctly. I use KYUM in Fedora 6. So, I enabled desktop effects and boooomm, crash. Then restart, and uuhh ahhhh, how nice. However, when I click on the Beryl Icon, boooom, LOL.
Should I uninstall both and reinstall one of them?? What's the difference anyway?
I use a Kmod Nvidia Driver, the one that comes by default sucks on all levels - and hey, if I hadn't screwed up my system log, which crashes, I could provide more info
Thanks,
Lex

Excuse my ignorance (i'm fairly new to Compiz myself) but how old are your installs of Compiz and Beryl?
I ask because they have recently merged to form compiz-fusion.
If your versions are old then personally i'd uninstall the pair of them and go with compiz fusion. Plus there's a great deal of article online details how to compile (if you choose not to go down the binary package route), configure and install the effects.
make sure you install ccsm as it's supposed to be a handy compiz configuration tool.
I read about this somewhere - uhhm, I installed everything not even 2 weeks ago. So, I'll check for a repository. And well, I un-installed compiz and I have no idea how to turn Beryl on. As root Beryl works somehow, but no roto cube.
Besides, my Monitor retarted, it can't remember to center the screen and I need to adjust this everytime the screen turns black or I switch user accounts. I reset it to factory settings but, that info must be somewhere in my file system, any idea!?!
Most of the tuts I read said that they won't play nice together, they also mention Beryl being better than Compiz and that you should un-install Compiz before installing Beryl. Maybe you should un-install and re-install Beryl now that Compiz is out to have yum reconfigure everything properly. You can also run command: system-config-display --reconfigure to re-configure your display settings, not sure if that command will work with Fedora, I would think it will. You'll need to get out your monitor manual for proper refresh rates and the likes, I would run that command before re-installing Beryl.
Beryl works great with Fedora 7, not sure about Core 6 as I never tried back then, and I find Fedora 7 was the easiest distribution to install Beryl on, just tell yum to install beryl, emerald-themes and you can enable beryl-manager after it's done and spin the cube without having to make changes in /etc/X11/xorg.conf etc. like other distributions.
I like this line: "Go for it, you can always just re-install" - it's my 4th Fedora installation within 10 days :-) It's really easier than finding fixes for what you don't know it is.
I tried this "system-config-display --reconfigure" - not sure what to do here. Instead I went to "Display" and selected the screen resolution for an LCD, looks like it worked. Beryl is all fine now.
I got Sam Nash's Book and looked for the Kernel Options. In my system make config, make menuconfig, or make xconfig doesn't work at all - no such command found - ?? confused. What is wrong?
Hope you can help me, I try to get a linksys card to work and need to change the 4KStack to 8KStack. What are my options, I want this system first of all for audio recording, wouldn't be 4KStack anyway better
aargghh, I was playing around with Beryl: Where the heck is the default skydome image? I can't remember the default directory and there is not default button. uuhhm, ,, never mind --- couldn't delete this message, sorry!
