Be Careful W/ That Rm Command, Kids!
Okay, so how about I went to go delete some unessecary files on my HD, and ruined my linux and had to reinstall.
I'm in a directory of files that just so happens to have a /bin directory in it. Not really thinking about it, I type the following command, which I dare anyone to repeat- rmdir -rf /bin/* And there goes most of my operating system.... Good thing I keep most important files on a separate partition.... |
So what's your point in here? This doesn't look like a question to me, while this site is called LinuxQuestions. At most you could've posted it in General.

well, it probably should of gone in linux_general (it is linux related) but its too late now. if a mod moves it, fine, but it IS a warning to linux newbies - they might appreciate it.
oh yeah... been there, done that. :O titanium_geek |
keeping important files on a separate partition would have nothing to do with it. you specified a directory, it makes no difference what partition its on, as long as its mounted.
