Basic commands in unix/linux
Hi,
I want to know what are the available basic unix/linux commands |
There are too many to list. Take a look at linuxcommand.org and probably take a look at a Linux book such as rute.
|
Look through /bin, /sbin for the most commonly used *NIX commands.
|
You can get a really big head start by opening a terminal and typing "info coreutils". Start playing with each of these, and you will learn a lot very fast.
When you get tired of that, then buy a copy of Linux in Nutshell (O'Reilly)---or go to TLDP.org and download "Bash Guide for Beginners" |
Satish;
From you posting history, it is starting to like you might be working on a homework assignment. Could you tell us a bit about what you have running and what your goals are? For example, what kinds of documents, books, etc. have you looked at? |
Which Distro
6?7? You may also want to consider updating your profile to show what distribution(s) you're running. There can be subtle differences in what commands are available/comand names & syntax depending upon what you're running.
