Basic commands in unix/linux

Hi,

I want to know what are the available basic unix/linux commands

There are too many to list. Take a look at linuxcommand.org and probably take a look at a Linux book such as rute.

Look through /bin, /sbin for the most commonly used *NIX commands.

You can get a really big head start by opening a terminal and typing "info coreutils". Start playing with each of these, and you will learn a lot very fast.

When you get tired of that, then buy a copy of Linux in Nutshell (O'Reilly)---or go to TLDP.org and download "Bash Guide for Beginners"

Satish;

From you posting history, it is starting to like you might be working on a homework assignment. Could you tell us a bit about what you have running and what your goals are?
For example, what kinds of documents, books, etc. have you looked at?

Which Distro

6?7? You may also want to consider updating your profile to show what distribution(s) you're running. There can be subtle differences in what commands are available/comand names & syntax depending upon what you're running.
