Banshee iPod Sync Help

Hello. I have been trying to get full functionality from the ipod syncing features of banshee. I have tried every means to get it to work completely. The problem that arises is that banshee copies all songs to the ipod seemingly get transferred. But upon unhooking the iPod it says "no Music". all the songs are filed as other. I am at a loss for ways to fix it. Any information you need I can provide. Thank you!!!!!!!

Are you unmounting the iPod before disconnecting it? I don't own an iPod, but I assume it behaves as an external disk drive, that is, it needs to be unmounted before removal, or the transfer doesn't complete. After transferring songs, right-click on the iPod icon on your desktop, select unmount, wait a few seconds, then remove it. Hope this helps!

I had the same problem before. Here are a couple things you may want to do.

1. Check to see if the ipod is connecting in Ubuntu.
2. If this is true make sure you are adding to the ipod in banshee and rythmbox.
3. If they are mp3 files, the ipod does not like to read them at all, I have had similar problems with this.
4. If all else fails try manually putting the songs into the ipod by opening it up in your file viewer and putting it under the following location.

Your-ipod-name/iTunes_Control/Music

In here you should see a bunch of folder call F00, F01, and so on. Put the songs you want into these file locations.

I hope this helped!

I am at the end of my rope with this... I had assumed after plentiful research that this was a permissions issue and ubuntu wasn't giving me the authority to write to the iPod. So I ran banshee in sudo and synced one album. Then I unmounted it like the previous poster suggested and then ejected. It worked!!!! So I sudoed banshee again and tried to sync my entire library. Woke up this morning and got the same result as all the last times. No music, all songs are categorized as "other". Any more suggestions before I put my head through a wall?

How are you transferring files? Have you tried the package gtkpod-aac? It's written specifically to interact with Ipods. Use synaptic or apt-get to install. Go to Applications>Accessories>Synaptic Package Manager, or, in a terminal:
Code:

sudo apt-get install gtkpod-aac

gtkpod is a good choice. If that does not work for you I have been using Rythmbox with my ipod and it has worked perfectly
