bad res, ran Xorg now Monitor not Found.

edit: It seems to have fixed itself after running xorgsetup a few times... So... Admins can delete this... Or... Leave it for reference. But i mean.. the only solution was to run xorgsetup a few times.

Hi, I just installed Slackware 10.2 on my AMD 2400+ w/ 512mb ddr, 40gb hdd, with an old Trident PCI videocard.

I got it up and running, installed KDE for the desktop and added myself a user. I tried to start it up with startx and my resolution wasn't matching up. I believe i set it to 1024x768 but forgot the trident card can only run at 800x600. I thought xorgconfig would default all the video settings or something, but now when i try to start up the desktop it gives me an error that reads Monitor not found, amoung some more technical stuff. Can someone tell me what to do? I figure theres a way from root to be able to change it. I thought i read that xorg.conf had the res setting, but i don't even know how to edit that yet. Thanks in advance. I'm still sketchy on commands. So... please.. be very detailed, thanks. :).

xorgsetup will usually make a working xorg.conf file, but if you know all the information on your graphics cardf and monitor xorgconfig will tweak the settings and make your video work better. If you just want ot change one or two minor settings open /etc/X11/xorg.conf with a text editor and make your changes. You will have to have root priviledges to save the corrections.
