Backup To Remote Server

I want to take my Windows XP box and dual boot it with Linux. There are plenty of guides to do that, so that's not my issue. I need Windows XP to be the default boot partition, but I want to schedule Windows to restart into Linux which will then execute a script to backup my XP partition to a remote server.

I've found guides for the dual booting and Clonezilla and scripting. How can I schedule Windows restart, boot to Linux, backup, then reboot to the XP Partition?

AFAIK there is no tool to allow you do that

Basically you want Windows to be your default boot, but schedule a reboot and ask the boot loader (without user intervention) to select an alternative boot (not the default).

You would therefore need to (automatically) modify the grub config file from within Windows before rebooting.

If you mounted your Linux filesystems within Windows using something like Ext2IFS then you might be able to modify your grub config file that way, but that would be extreemly dangerous and I would advise against it.

You would probably end up corrupting your grub config and having difficulty booting into either OS.
