Backtrack 3 installation help


I was using redhat linux 9.N now i wanted to install backtrack3.But when i boot from the cd i get the following error:
Fatal Server Error:
no screens found
giving up
I am using P3 with 256mb ram and a monitor of samsung(sync master-Lcd 19").
Can any1 help me troubleshoot ma prblm??

Welcome to LQ!
did you try any framebuffer options?
vga=785 (which is 640x480)
vga=788 (800x600)
vga=791 (1024x768)

at boot line try vga=whatever you want

if that's not it, also enter "xsetup"
or similar
it's slax based isn't it?
or ubuntu?

But i m really srry to say dat its not working still.I hv tried all the vga modes u have told me.The foremost error i get is as follows:

Loading /boot/vmlinuz...................................................
Loading /boot/intitrd.gz..................................
Ready
You passed an undefined mode number.
Press <RETURN. to see video modes and <SPACE> to continue or wait 30 secs.

Though it boots up ant finally takes to the CUI modo telling me to enter 'root' as user and 'toor' as password.
I did dat n it takes to shell prompt.
Again when i type 'startx'.It gives me the following error message.

did you press return here to see modes avaiable?

what is the native resolution of the lappy?
or is it a pc with integrated graphics?
not sis?

Ya i hv tried all the resolution provided bt it aint working.It still gives me the previous error.
Fatal server error n blah blah

I m using a PC with samsung(sync master 933,19").N yes its a pc with integrated graphics.
I dont no how i can get out of this problem.

You should start a new thread in Hardware forum specifically about your video card
etc
give full specs and as much as you know about it

now, does redhat boot and run ok on it?
if so, maybe take a look at the redhat settings for the lappy?
