Awesome WM not reading local config files
Hi,
I just installed Debian on my netbook and I use awesome window manager. However, it seems to completely ignore the local config file in ~/.config/awesome/rc.lua. I have awesome installed and running fine on my other (Arch) laptop, so I copied over its config file. It still doesn't read the local config. It seems to be reading the config file from /etc/xdg/awesome/rc.lua. I looked on the Debian wiki, and my local config is in the right place. According to the manpage and the Debian wiki, it should read the local config, then the global config. I'm running Debian Wheezy and am using LightDM for my desktop manager. Thanks! |
Hi,
if awesome fails to parse your rc.lua correctly you will end up with the default config. This can happen if for example, your config file is incompatible with the version of awesome you are using. You should check your log file (eg ~/.xsession-errors). HTH, Evo2. |
Sorry about the delay
It was a config file issue, like you suspected. Apparently the Debian version and the Arch version are different. Thanks! |
