Avoiding automatic creation of tar.gz in /var/archives?


The linux box creates all time some backup in my /var/archives... home...tar.gz
is there a way to avoid this ?

There's a backup going on it seems.
Did you set up some software for this? What distribution are you using? If it is Mandriva, try and see if drakbackup is enabled (in MCC = Control Center).

etch, thanks for the information....
[HTML]dpkg -l | grep backup
ii backup-manager 0.7.5-3 command-line backup tool
ii dvdbackup 0.1.1-10 tool to rip DVD's from the command line[/HTML]

Let's try to remove backup-manager apt-get remove backup-manager
I think that 's the responsible package (looks damn automatic)

We shall see if it does it again ...
